Homburg history

“Reculer pour mieux sauter!”, or take a step back for a longer leap. This French idiom reflects Homburg’s prudent approach. In 2009 it is an impressive enterprise, whose story began in Hattem, in the Dutch province of Gelderland. That is where Richard Homburg made his first real estate investment at Kruistraat, number 16.

Richard Homburg gradually grew his real estate portfolio. A major step forward came in 1976. After his move to Canada, he purchased a construction company there that was also in possession of a number of residences. This was the launching pad for an expansion on two continents.

Uni-Invest

While more real estate was being purchased and developed in Canada and in the US, Richard Homburg expanded newly acquired Uni-Invest N.V from a troubled, approximately 30-million Euro real estate fund into a highly profitable and reputable 2-billion Euro fund. At the same time in Europe, real estate projects were developed and taken over in Germany, Switzerland, and the Baltic countries.

After Richard Homburg acquired Uni-Invest in 2002, he established Homburg N.V. and immediately set about working at his main passion: successful operation of real estate holdings. The achievements from this period are impressive. Uni-Invest became a success, and Homburg Invest Inc. (the real estate fund set up in Canada and listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange and on Euronext Amsterdam) enjoyed phenomenal growth. Finally, the venerable AMS Hotel group was completely reorganized and brought to flourish again.
