Redevelopment Project
Currently, a Detail Plan is being prepared to change the land usage
designation to commercial. It is planned to expand and redevelop the existing
building into an embassy/residence or executive office. According to preliminary
architectural proposals the old building should reconstructed and additionally a
new building should be build beside it.
Surroundings
The site is located high up on the right bank of the river Neris in the
exclusive and leafy district of Zverynas. It overlooks the Lithuanian Parliament
and one end of Gedimino Avenue – the city’s main high street. Malonioji is a
quiet street surrounded by private houses and exclusive residential buildings.
Vilnius is the capital of Lithuania. The city is located in the southeast of
the Baltic country at the confluence of the Neris and VilnelÄ— rivers. In 2007,
Vilnius had 542,785 inhabitants. The capital has an historic Old Town which is a
UNESCO World Heritage Site and which houses Vilnius University, one of the
oldest universities in Europe.
